An abandoned speed-boat was engulfed by the flames during Monday midday hours in proximity of Karaburun peninsula. Local authorities informed that the speed-boat was set on fire after a long-pursuit by the police.
The persons on board managed to elude capture by fleeing the scene and have been declared wanted by the police. Preliminary verification rose suspicions that the flames’ engulfed speedboat was being used for drugs trafficking to Italy. Police inquiry aiming to shed light on this episode is still ongoing.
