
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is interested in investing in Albania, President of Azerbaijan, , said at the meeting with the Ambassador of Albania to Baku, Gent Gazheli.
The Azerbaijani leader stressed the importance of the joint implementation of the project ‘Southern Gas Corridor’, and also noted that SOCAR is interested in investing in the Albanian economy as a whole, local media there reported Sunday.
According to Aliyev, the political ties between Baku and Tirana are successfully developing and open the mutually beneficial prospects for the bilateral cooperation.
Gent Gazheli is the new Ambassador of Albania to Azerbaijan. He presented Friday his credentials to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
After the ceremony of credentials presentation, the President of Azerbaijan had a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador during which Azeri President praised the very good relations existing between the two countries. According to him, such very good relations should not exist only in the bilateral terms but also in terms of economic cooperation and projects in various fields, mainly energy.
On his part, Ambassador Gazheli expressed maximal commitment to boost the level of economic cooperation, especially in the framework of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project.
Gent Gazheli also presented his credentials as the new Albanian non-resident ambassador to Tehran where he was received by President of Iran Hassan Rouhani. The latter said the two countries have cultural common grounds and Iran is interested to develop ties and help carry out economic development projects and boost cultural, tourism and scientific relations with Albania.
Rouhani said that it is necessary to introduce capabilities and capacities of the two countries to investors and the public and private companies.
He called for regular consultations and cooperation between Iran and Albania, saying that exchange of views would serve to maintain peace, stability in the region and the entire world.
Albanian new envoy, for his part, emphasized commitment of the Albanian government to promote bilateral relations in different fields.
