The Albanian Parliament organized a special reception on Sunday evening, under the patronage of Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, in occasion of the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Tirana. This event was attended by representatives of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation, representatives of the diplomatic corps, media representatives and other dignitaries. In his opening speech Speaker Meta said that the presence of such a large number of delegates shows the importance given by Albania to the NATO parliamentary dimension.

“Each one of the represented countries brings some specific characteristics in this alliance as a reflection of our political, cultural and social diversity. Thus, we are united by our joint values of democracy and the willingness to defend our joint security”.

He stressed that this meeting in Tirana has a special symbolic considering the fact that Albania was among most isolated and hostile countries toward the Northern Atlantic alliance.

“You are here today as our distinct guests while only 26 years ago this reception would have been beyond imagination. But now the history has changed and you are here as partners discussing over the strategic challenges” concluded Speaker Meta.
