Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta welcomed on Thursday his Italian counterpart, Laura Boldrini. During a joint press conference at the end of this meeting pairs praised two countries excellent parliamentary relations.

“I wish to express to Mrs. Boldrini our greatest gratitude for the special support that Italy gives to Albania in the European Union integration process. Italy has always been Albania’s advocate, and we count on Italy for the next step, the EU accession talks opening,” said Speaker Meta.

He emphasized the fact that pairs agreed to strengthen the parliamentary collaboration on view of the EU accession talks opening.

Referring to economic relations Speaker Meta said that the circulation tax abrogation is a positive step for the Albanian transport companies that operate with Italy.

Meanwhile the Italian Parliament Speaker, Boldrini reconfirmed Italy’s support to Albania while praised the steps undertaken by the Albanian political class for the judicial reform. She also praised the progress made by the Albanian community in Italy and their integration in this country’s daily life.
