The World Cities Summit 2018 held in Singapor has selected on Tuesday the capital of Albania, Tirana, as one of the cities that has made the most progress.
Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, attended the Summit where he displayed the enormous change Tirana has undergone during recent years.
"I am very content that Tirana has been praised in the World Cities Summit here in Singapor and simultaneously in the Annual Water Summit.
I take much pride in everything we have achieved. The Water Supply and Sewerage Association was turned from a declined company to an entrepreneurship that is ready to commence working on doubling the capacity of Bovilla," said Veliaj.
During his speech, Veliaj expressed his regret for the declarations of past leaders, who even nowadays swear to destroy Tirana's public properties.
"I feel sorry when I hear previous leaders that say they will destroy the "Skanderbeg" Square, or recently they don't allow for the construction of new National Theater," said Veliaj.
The Mayor ensured the citizens that the Municipality will continue transforming Tirana, and that the work will not stop neither in the last year of his mandate.
