Trees' planting is seen by the Municipality of Tirana as the best way to prevent erosion and floods in the future. This philosophy is the origin of a project that will be finalized with the planting of over 100.000 trees throughout the suburban areas creating what will be known as �The Orbital Forest�.

Mayor Erion Veliaj inspected on Monday the planting of 200 trees in the city�s belt-way southern section. In a brief communication with journalists he praised the good work done so far for this project� implementation while adding that nothing is impossible if there�s a positive will to do something for the citizens.

�I want to invite every citizen to join this project, and even if they have not the possibility to plant a tree it�s sufficient to not damage the existing ones. That�s the only way through which we may compensate the nature for the damages caused during many years. One million coffees are served each day in Tirana. What if, instead of doing so, we would chose to plant one million trees? I do believe that our city needs this kind of positive energy that may be easily generated through a bit of collaboration by the citizens,� said the mayor.
