Musine Kokalari, the first Albanian writer, a known dissident and one of the most prestigious personalities of the resistance against communist dictatorship, will be commemorated on Monday in occasion of 100th birth anniversary.
Various discussions that are expected to be a main element of this commemorative activity are expected to shed more light on her life and artistic work. The autobiographic book �My University Life� written by Kokalari from 1940 to 1942 while in Rome will also be presented as part of this activity.
She published her first book, titled �Something that my old mother tells me� in 1939 and completed the studies in �La Sapienza� university of Rome with excellent results in 1941. Dedicated to the creation of a democratic Albania she returned home in 1946 but was quickly labeled as saboteur and enemy of the people by the communist regime. She was initially imprisoned and then isolated in a rural city until her death in 1983.
