Albania’s New Law on Energy Efficiency

The Albanian Assembly launched on Friday the review of the new draft-law on energy efficiency. The previous law was never implemented and Albania is the only country in the region that has not yet taken this important step to ensuring energy supply and its savings.

The Parliamentary Committee of Productive Activities, Trade and Environment held a hearing session with stakeholders in order to receive the appropriate recommendations of this new law based on European and Regional experience.

The discussion focused on innovations that brings on this bill, as well as on the issue for creation of the National Fund of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Agency.

These recommendations aim to create the proper terrain for proper implementation of energy efficiency legislation. Academy of Political Studies collaborated with Parliament to ensure the involvement of all stakeholders in this important process.
