Economic Freedom, Albania: Slight Improvement

The economic freedom of Albania marked a slight improvement in the past year. Heritage Foundation and Wall Street Journal report that Albania is the 59th economy with more freedom in the world,  from 186 countries that have been evaluated. Last year Albania was 63rd.
“This is a reflection of the constant reforms, which make us think that we still have more to do,” declared the Minister of Economy, Arben Ahmetaj. According to the report, Albania has made improvement with the freedom from corruption and property rights. The index values the economic freedom through four areas, law implementation, government financial size, efficiency of regulators and open markets. Despite the improvement, corruption and property rights remain the two most problematic indicators, according to the report.
