Electronic voting in the next parliamentary elections of June 18 became subject of debates between majority and opposition’s representatives during Legal Issues, Public Administration and Human Rights Parliamentary Committee Wednesday’s meeting. Democrat MP, Eduard Halimi laid the stress on the fact that electronic voting would end the electoral problems in Albania.

“Electronic voting is not related to opposition or the power gaining process. Elections’ problems in Albania would be resolved once and forever through the electronic voting. Let’s put an end to the pressure on the MPs that are part of the electoral reform. Electronic voting is an inalienable request of the united opposition,” said Halimi.

On the other side while sharing Halimi’s opinion that electronic voting will be finally implemented Socialist MP, Ulsi Manja added that a two-years period of time is needed for its feasibility.

“Opposition’s hastiness for the electronic voting implementation neglects the necessity of a law for cybernetic security. Technology implementation requires a period of time for feasibility verification,” said Manja.
