President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani awarded the ‘Scanderbeg’s Order Knight’ title to ‘Rilidja Demokratike” (RD) newspaper in occasion of the 26th anniversary of the publication of the first number of this newspaper. ‘RD’ entered the media world in Albania as free and independent voice after nearly five decades of harsh oppression and censure by the communist regime. 

This high title was awarded to ‘RD’ as a token of appreciation for the valuable and irreplaceable contribution given as the first newspaper which killed the fear from the dictatorship and cleared the path to the reopening of free press in Albania, spreading and raising the unalienable values of freedom and democracy.
