The archaeologists brought to light a number of rare archaeological objects in the area where Kalivaç hydro-power plant is expected to be constructed. Archaeologists Skender Muçaj and Suela Xhyveri unveiled by the end of December 2016 a multitude of artifacts and historic traces going back since the medium Paleolithic era up to the last millennium.

One of the most important discoveries in Ylynec Gorge is the Eremite’s Cave, which belongs to 13th and 14th centuries and still preserves traces of Saint Mary’s picture. Ali Pasha’s constructions were another important discovery. The archaeologists addressed an appeal to the hydro-power plant planners to get in touch with archaeology experts before starting the project’s implementation avoiding this valuable heritage infringement.
