
The mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived in Albania to complete negotiations with the Albanian government over the fiscal package and the 2017 budget and the partial deletion of obligations for businesses.
Reports say that a part of discussions will be focused on the new relation that Albania will create with the IMF, because in February, the current agreement will come to an end. The government has already officialized the pay increase for this administration for two categories, by 17 percent for police and 10 percent for teachers, and there are rumors that there will also be a 3 percent increase for pensioners. The mission held its first meeting with the governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, and it will hold another meeting with the Minister of Finance, Arben Ahmetaj and experts of the line Ministries.
The IMF mission is being led by Anita Tuladhar and will be in Albania for two weeks.
