New National Arena Construction Begins in April, Says Duka

The construction of the new National Arena in Tirana will begin on April 22. Albanian Football Federation president Armando Duka declared that the new sportive plant project that will replace the “Qemal Stafa” stadium will be introduced to the public on April 21. According to the AFF president the construction works will immediately follow the project’s presentation.

“New sportive plant project will be introduced next week, on April 21. The agreement signature will be carried out at the same day, clearing the path to the construction works” said Duka.

The new stadium was a promise related to the 100th anniversary of independence on November 28, 2012 but the construction works were repeatedly postponed. Those delays were generated by high financial cost of Euro 60 million and the lack of interest by the private sector. Anyway, those obstacles seem to have been left behind and the new sport plant will be ready within two years.
