Leshnica Imam Accused of Fighting with ISIS, Trial Begins

Pogradec Court held on Wednesday the first session for the Imam of Leshnica Mosque, Almir Daci. The session was held in the absence of Daci, because the authorities do not actually know where he might be.

Almir Daci is known in Albania as one of ISIS militants, accused of  terrorist acts incitment and recruitment of other persons to be involved in terrorist acts.

Prosecutors believe he might be in Syria fighting for ISIS. They added further that he has taken other Albanian citizens with him in Syria to fight for ISIS.

During the session of Wednesday, the father of Daci rejected the accusations that his son is fighting alongside ISIS in Syria. He said that he is in Albania now. Moreover, he has been discharged from Imam’s duty in Leshnica Mosque. "How can he go to Syria without a penny in his pocket,” stated the father of Daci.
