Ardi Veliu was appointed this Monday as the new General Director of the State Police by the proposal of the Interior Minister, Fatmir Xhafaj and the approval of the Prime Minister, Edi Rama.

But who is the new director?

He was born on March 2, 1972 in Delvina and have a career in police.

From 1987-1991 did the "Skenderbej" military high school, from 1991-1993 continued studies in the Military Academy of Tirana.

From 1993-1994 he continued studies in Police Academy and from 1994-1998 studied in Police Academy in Ankara, Turkey. He has completed a series of professional training courses and is well cognitive of Turkish and English language.

His professional career starts from 1993 when he was Chief of Order Police in Vlora till 2002.

From 2002-2004 he was the Chief of Division of "Police with Uniforms" at the Police Directorate of Vlora. Meanwhile from 2004-2006 he was the Chief of Order sector of Vlora, 2013-2014 Chief of the Police Commissariat in Durres and 2014-2015 Deputy Director of Security at the Directorate of Police in Tirana.

The last two years, 2015-2017 he works as Director of Police College and Director of Traffic and Local Police Directorate in Tirana.
