The Serious Crimes Prosecution submitted a request on Thursday to the parliament asking for Socialist MP Sajmir Tahiri immunity�s removal. The prosecution request aims to clear the path to Tahiri�s arrest on grounds of alleged ties with the drugs smuggling from Albania to Italy.

This request follows an investigation for the criminal offenses of "Narcotics Trafficking" conducted in collaboration, in the form of structured criminal group and the �Passive Corruption of High State Officials and Local Authorities�.

The Serious Crimes Prosecution is investigating, in collaboration with Italian authorities, a criminal group that has trafficked large quantities of cannabis sattiva from Albania to Italy.

Based on the data obtained in the framework of this investigation the Serious Crimes Prosecution requires from the Mandates Committee in the Albanian Assembly the issuing of the authorization for �the arrest and the personal and apartment�s inspection� of Socialist MP Saimir Tahiri.
