The tender with a total value of EUR 9.5 Million, opened by the former Minister of Interior Affairs, Sajmir Tahiri, was annulled on Monday by the minister, Fatmir Xhafaj. The annulment order was related to the definitive answer given by the Public Procurement Agency (PPA).

According to PPA, none of the bids presented in this tender, that would equip with new uniforms some 11.000 police officers, did not meet the specified criteria.

The tender would be organized in four lots, the PPA reports.

The first one includes the procurement of more than ALL 955 million for the uniforms purchase. Thus each police officer uniform would have a cost of ALL 86.000.

The 2nd one foresees the expenditure of around ALL 115 Millions for shoes purchase, or ALL 10.4000 per person.

The third lot foresees the use of a sum of all 44 Millions for ranks symbols and police emblems purchase

Meantime the fourth and final lot was related to the purchase of accessories like hats and gloves with a total value of ALL 167 Million or ALL 161.000 per person.

It remains to be seen if the Ministry of Interior will repeat the request for this tender with these materials needed by the police forces.
