The leader of opposition, Lulzim Basha called on Prime Minister, Edi Rama to admit the difficult situation generated by the extremely low temperatures and declare the state of emergency. During a visit to Kukes for a close inspection of the situation he requested a higher commitment by the government to cope with the Siberian cold that has engulfed the country. 

“Fire-woods regime is punitive. While government’s trucks are loaded with timber citizens are punished for collecting kindling. I have been in touch with many citizens and municipal council members. They informed me that no assistance has been given by the government despite this grave situation,” said Basha.

He expressed the deepest gratitude for the Energy Power Distribution Operator (OSHEE) technicians that keep working in extreme conditions guarantying the energy supply for the citizens, stressing that this was another indicator of the absence of investments during these 3 years.
