Albania may rank among the countries with the lowest incomes per capita and the lowest wages in Europe. But this does not prevent this country to be the 2nd state in the world, left behind only by Spain, for the highest number of bar-cafe for 100 thousand residents. While the country had a total of 104.000 businesses by the end of 2015, uniquely about 18% of total businesses in Albania are bar-cafe and restaurants.

According to the latest data published by the Statistics Institute, “INSTAT”, the number of cafeterias in Albania by the end of 2015 was 13.612. With a population of 2.88 million, Albania has 473 cafeterias to 100 thousand inhabitants.

Spain ranks as the country with the highest number of cafeteria in the world, in relation to the population. In Spain there are 270 thousand cafeterias for 46 million people, or 587 cafeterias per 100 thousand inhabitants, much higher than other countries, since most have less than 200 cafeterias per 100 thousand inhabitants according to global statistics.
