Foreign Coach for the Weightlifting National Team
April 20, 2016

Albanian Weightlifting Federation will soon follow the example of the Albanian Football Federation and the Albanian Basketball Federation in relation to the national team leadership. AWF president Elez Gjozaj declared on Wednesday that the idea of a foreign coach is being taken into consideration. He refused to give further details over the possible candidates’ names. According to Gjoza this step might be taken due to the disappointing presentation of the Albanian weightlifters in the European championship.

Albanian weightlifter Briken Calja ranked at the third place in the clean and jerk style lifting 69 kilograms but failed in the snatch style, while Erkand Qerimaj failed in both styles. Thus two Albanian coaches Leonard Toska and Zef Kovaci may soon be dismissed from the national team.
