Switzerland – Albania Avoid Double Taxation

Switzerland will no longer apply the double taxation scheme on the income tax and capital for Albania citizens. An agreement signed between the Swiss and Albanian governments in September 2015 foresees the cut of the double taxation. This was announced by the vice Minister of Finances, Irena Beqiraj during the approval of the agreement by the parliamentary Economy Commission’s members this week.

In addition, Beqiraj also announced the adding of a new article in the agreement, related to the exchange of information between Swiss and Albanian tax authorities. Beqiraj said this will allow tax authorities to exchange information in order to implement the agreement and avoid fraud and fiscal evasion cases.

During the discussions at the Commission, the deputy Anastas Angjeli asked to the Ministry of Finances to review the double tax agreements with the USA and Israeli.
