Judges, Luxury Expenditures with Public Funds

Members and staff of the two highest bodies of the current judicial system, the High Council of Justice (HCJ) and the High Court spent considerable sums of public money during 2017 for abroad trips, lunches and dinners and other luxury expenditures. Media sources reported on Saturday that members of the HCJ and staff have traveled abroad 6 times spending sums of ALL 71,000, ALL 83,900, ALL 61,200, ALL 151,420, ALL 149,000, ALL 89,780 and ALL 963,700 for airplane tickets purchase.

Meantime the High Court members of staff have traveled abroad 22 times using public funds to purchase plane tickets. ALL 239,038 and ALL 65,400 have been used by the High Council of Justice for receptions and lunches. Even the High Court huge sums of money from public funds for receptions and rewards given to the members and staff, specifically ALL 17.000, ALL 7.000, ALL 30.000, ALL 120.000, ALL 50.000, ALL 8.500, ALL 8.500, ALL 40.000, ALL 80.000 etc.

This is the last year that HCJ still exists due to the fact that this institution will soon be replaced by the High Judicial Council while the fate of High Council members will be defined by the vetting process.
