The Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) addressed a public invitation to Ambassadors to monitor the justice reform implementation. In a public reaction SMIs Deputy Chair, Luan Rama denounced the efforts to exercise pressure on vetting bodies while inviting the Ambassadors to monitor the process.
The failure to meet the conditions for inclusion in vetting bodies is a governments effort to control justice reform. Thus, we invite the US and EU ambassadors to follow this process with the same conscience displayed during the reforms adoption. While the vetting bodies should have been already set up the government is gradually displaying its objection to this reform, said Rama.
According to him, a few days ago a majoritys representative in the Legal Issues, Public Administration and Human Rights Committee presented the brilliant idea that these commissions that are conceived and defined by the law as constitutional institutions of vital importance for the success of judicial reform, are not required to have their administration or infrastructure, but may use the administration and infrastructure of the Constitutional Court.
How can they be so ignorant and not realize that their idiocy is in contravention of the principle of functional independence? Are they really so ignorant? I do not find any other reason in fact, and I am using these words because I do not want to believe they are doing it intentionally. Otherwise, I would have to say that we are dealing with a wicked and criminal attempt to sabotage the justice reform implementation. The majority is doing everything possible to transform this reform into the next victim of her greediness. Thus, I wish to address a public appeal to the Ambassadors Donald Lu and Romana Vlahutin to closely monitor this process, said Luan Rama. He stressed that only their pressure might force the majority to keep the hands off the justice reform avoiding any deformation attempt.
