The National Historic Museum will welcome a photo-exhibition titled The other side of communism. This rare exhibition will bring in Tirana a number of renowned Dutch photographers who documented the entire period before and during the various revolutions in the former Eastern Bloc countries.

The pictures represent an unforeseen and multi-faceted view of the Eastern Bloc of that time. The black and white analogue but also color pictures hold the signature of the photographer, recording the way he or she used to take pictures during that period.

A special part of the exhibition is dedicated to the work of photo journalist Piet den Blanken, who traveled to Albania in 1986, as part of the group of "Friends of the Ideal".

Despite the law that prohibited any contact between Albanians and foreign visitors, as well as the taking of pictures in the streets he managed to realize numerous photos of Albanian citizens and their everydays life under the communist regime.

This exhibition will open its gates for the visitors next Thursday at 18:00 in the premises of the National Historic Museum.
