Molier's "Tartuffe" Arrives in Shkodra

The world famous "Tartuffe" comedy, written by renowned French writer Molier, returns to Albania after being presented to the public two years ago in the National Theater stage. This masterpiece of the world�s theater, which has as its main theme the hypocrisy of the clergymen that aim to be enriched rapidly by using the confidence laid by others in their sacred profession will come to the public in the stage of the Migjeni� theater in Shkodra under the direction of Kushtrim Bekteshi.

The comedy�s rehearsals are already underway while the premiere will raise the curtains of the new season on September 15. The role of Tartuffe will be played by Besfort Berberi. The other roles will be played by Pjerin Vlashi, Kristi Lleshi, Jozef Shiroka, Sara Smaja, Rita Gjeka, Simon Shkreli, Merita Smaja, Nikolin Ferketa, Kristiana Dodaj and Enver Hyseni.

This play was presented for the first time to the Albanian public in 1947. The comedy was played for the first time in the Versaille royal court on Maj 12, 1664. The immense despair of the clergymen and the aristocracy forced the author to change its title making it �The imposters� and wear Tartuffe as a civilian. The play was allowed to see the light of the stage after a third version was written.
