Scientific Conference Commemorates Budi’s 450th Birthday

The National Museum welcomed a scientific conference organized on occasion of Pjeter Budi’s 450th birth anniversary. Researchers from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albanian diaspora participated in this scientific conference. 

Academic Gjovalin Shkurtaj opened the conference with an important speech focused on Budi’s role in the Albanian literature. The National Museum director, Melsi Labi stated that this institution was honored by the fact that Pjeter Budi was being mentioned in ‘UNESCO’ hall. 

“I am delighted by the chance given to me to welcome all of you in this scientific conference on occasion of 450th anniversary of birth of this great humanist. We are eternally obliged toward this distinct personality. His great work enrooted a laik mentality on the Albanian national issue,” said Labi.

Pjeter Budi is one of the most distinct personalities of the Albanian world. He ranks among these clergymen totally committed toward the national issue. He was the organizer and leader of the Albanians fight against Turkish occupation, translator and original creator in the Albanian literature, and a fervent defender of the national culture and identity.
