Shkodra Historic Museum, Restoration Project Completed
December 5, 2016

Shkodra Historic Museum ‘Oso Kuka’ will soon become subject to partial restoration process. Building’s amortization has generated a highly problematic situation endangering the archaeological, ethnographic and historic objects exposed in this museum. This precarious situation urged the Ministry of Culture to allocate an emergency fund which will be used for roof’s repair and other partial restorations. The project foresees building’s hydro-isolation, and other repairs of the building’s roof.

Museum’s director, Fatmir Juka says that this intervention is more than necessary due to the endangerment of precious objects.

“I believe that this is the right moment for such intervention. Building’s amortization is putting at risk the objects stored here,” said Juka.

‘Oso Kuka’ museum holds inside his wall a millennial history, in the archaeological pavilion, the ethnographic pavilion, and the library’s archive which contains more than 20.000 different books of domestic and international authors.
