Vetting, Suspension Left in Vigor by Constitutional Court
November 22, 2016

Constitutional Court overruled on Tuesday Socialist MP, Pandeli Majko request for vetting law suspension annulment. Meantime Democratic Party (DP) and Judges Union request for this law abrogation is still being considered by this court. Opposition and Judges Union claim that vetting law violates country’s constitution.

In his request, submitted on the parliament’s name Majko underlined that this law’s suspension motives are still unclear. On the other side Judges Union demands suspension remand in vigor due to the fact that numerous judges and prosecutors job places are at stake thanks to this law.

A fact that catches the eye is the presence of US ambassador, Donald Lu during these requests consideration by the Constitutional Court.

Anyway, final decision will be taken after December 10 when Venice Commission will publish the opinion on the standards of this law which re-evaluates judges and prosecutors.
