‘Mediterranean Culture’ Prize Awarded to Ismail Kadare
October 17, 2016

The internationally known Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare has been awarded the Jubilee Prize for Mediterranean Culture by the ‘Carical’ Foundation. The prizes awarding ceremony was organized last weekend in Rendano Theater in Cosenza.

This prize was awarded to Ismail Kadare for his extensive work as writer and poet, and was also based on the fact that his name has been repeatedly included in the final list of candidates for the Nobel Prize for Literature. The fact that Ismail Kadare is also an honorary member of the French Academy influenced the jury’s decision.

The author of ‘Chronicle in the stone’, ‘Broken April’, ‘The Dead Army’s General’ and many other known novels, was present in the prize awarding ceremony. He has been awarded a multitude of international prizes, included that ofPrincipe de Asturias de las Letras 2009 and Man Booker Internacional Prize.

Everyone’s eyes focused once again this year on the internationally known writter at the eve of the Nobel Prize for Literature awarding ceremony but Kadare failed one more time to win this coveted prize.
