‘Matura’, Nikolla: Lack of Willingness to See the Truth
October 17, 2016

Minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla declared at the end of the application phase for the admission in the public universities that every student that will pursue a higher education succeeded thanks to the merit.

During a meeting on Monday with teachers from all over Albania she addressed to the graduates that failed to succeed and their parents who expressed dissatisfaction toward the new scheme of the State’ Matura. Nikolla stressed that the accusations toward her and the Ministry of Education came from people who did not wanted to hear or see the reality.

“This is not the path that leads to standardization in international level. But let’s focus on the formula. What happened? Which was the weight of the high school average? Only 20% succeeded in their application for higher studies. The transparence was completely absent. Due to the fact that three year ago the limit was defined by the minister. Merite-Preference was an algorithm and no one was able of seeing what was going on. Next days will be a further illustration of the transformation enabled by the new formula,” said Nikolli.
