Gjirokastra’s police seized of a quantity of 50 Kg of cannabis sativa on Sunday in Memaliaj. The narcotics quantity seizure was based on confidential information obtained by the police agents. According to the informers a 4x4 vehicle platted AA 976 BO loaded with cannabis sativa was moving in a secondary road.
The vehicle’s driver, later identified as S.V. 49, refused to stop at the police road-block trying to elude capture by moving with high speed endangering the officers’ life. After a brief pursuit by the police he found himself force to abandon the vehicle and managed to flee the scene due to the broken terrain. He was immediately declared wanted by the police.
Meanwhile an inquiry aiming to define the origin and destination of the seized cannabis quantity is still ongoing.
