Faik Konica Stamp Handed Over to the National Library
October 8, 2016

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the National Library, held in the “Lumo Skendo” Hall, at the National Library, a special ceremony to hand over the “EX LIBRIS F.K.” stamp, also called “Faik Konica Stamp”. This stamp is a gift from the “St. George” Cathedral and the “Fan Noli” Library in Boston, symbolically donated to Foreign Minister Bushati during his recent visit to the U.S.

The handing of this stamp embodies the last wish of Faik Konica, for it to be part of the National Library Fund. Minister Bushati, in his address, praised Faik Konica’s personality, as one of the most reputable diplomats and prominent representatives of the Albanian community in the U.S. He also noted the role of the Albanian Diaspora, underlining that in view of establishing a new and more structured relationship with it, the Albanian government will hold in Tirana, on 18-20 November, the first summit of the Albanian Diaspora. This assembly is designed as an open and thorough dialogue and will include several activities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the National Library.

Culture Minister Kumbaro highlighted that intellectual and diplomat Faik Konica has imprinted the history of Albanian diplomacy. She thanked Minister Bushati for his commitment and support to fulfill his testament, thus enabling, through the close cooperation of the two ministries, the delivery of several books from the Faik Konica Library to the National Library, which was recovered close to the Albanian community in the U.S. thanks to the work and contribution of this community’s representative, Agron Alibali.

At the end of the ceremony, Ministers Bushati, Kumbaro and National Library Director Persida Asllani delivered an awareness message in the framework of Literature Day and the campaign “Let’s meet for a book”.
