The protest of a group of Zharres Village inhabitants in front of the Ministry of Energy was not welcomed on Saturday in the capital.

After some hours of peaceful protest, they were not allowed to pitched tents in front of this institution. The situation degenerated and they clashed with police, which refused to let them there.

They walked for nearly four days aiming to bring their voice of protest in Tirana. Their protest is related to the water and environment pollution by the continuous explosions conducted by “Bankers Petroleum” close to their houses.

Protesters claim that their houses are being destroyed due to these continuous explosions that generate a number of land tremors.

The situation seems more calm after a meeting of them with the deputy Prime Minister, Niko Peleshi.

They called on the executive to order the immediate interruption of this process by this private company, acting in the interest of the inhabitants.
