Germany Supports ‘Marubi’ Photo-Museum

The National Museum of Photography ‘Marubi’, which contains around 500.000 negatives, preserving a valuable national heritage, will from now on benefit from support of the German executive. A fund of around EUR 70.000 has been allocated by the German executive for the purchase of storage boxes and other materials. These materials were handed over to the Marubi museum by the German ambassador, Susanne Schütz in presence of the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro. Some 7.000 storage boxes and 82.000 special envelopes for negatives conservation were handed over by Ambassador Schütz.

“Marubi Museum stores a unique cultural treasure. The photos, the negatives and the documents stored here have a distinct artistic and documentary value for Albania and Europe. I am glad that we were given the chance to contribute in the further conservatio of this important heritage,” said Ambassador Schütz.

Marubi Museum inventory includes around 500.000 negatives, 150.000 of them made of highly sensitive glass.
