Vetting law enters in force. Constitutional Court clears the path to the implementation of this law that will remove from the public office all corrupted judges and officials.

This court finally explained on Wednesday the motives leading to the request of Democratic Party (DP) and Judges Union for the law’s incongruity with the Constitution. According to the Constitutional Court the vetting law shows no incongruity with the Constitution and does not violate the human rights, while guaranteeing the legal state functioning.

The vetting law will introduce background checks on Albanian judges and prosecutors related to their professional preparation, moral integrity and level of independence from organized crime, corruption and political power.
