The leader of Republican Party (RP), Fatmir Mediu met on Tuesday with this political force branch representatives in Athens. In his speech Mediu underlined the fact that RP has repeatedly requested an electoral reform which guarantees a fair and transparent electoral process that would return power on citizens’ hands.

“Our request for electronic voting creates a loophole for emigrants' participation in the electoral process. This request avoids ID cards sequestration and votes’ trafficking, while clearing the path to the Albanians living abroad to cast their vote,” said Mediu.

Referring to the opposition’s suggestion for open-lists in next parliamentary elections the RP leader said that citizens should have the right to choose their candidates, instead of leaving this choice in the hands of parties’ leaders.

“Citizens’ right to work for their well-being and happiness can’t be left on the hands of PM Rama and Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta. They keep stealing the Albanian citizens, aiming state, justice and next elections’ capture,” said Mediu.
