Good news for those affected by diabetes. The executive will allocate a reimbursement fund of 23 million All for the children and patients up to 18-years old covering the expenses for diabetes level measurement equipments. This is the first time that such fund is added to the Health Ministry budget assisting over 1500 children in the entire country affected by the diabetes.

According to the children and youths affected by the diabetes association the cost for a single child suffering from this disease is 730.000 All per year. On view of the fact that the number of diabetes affected children in Albania is around 1500 their families find themselves forced to spend a total sum of around 100 million All per year. The association director, Asim Toro said that the state may guarantee much lower prices for the measurement equipments lowering the total cost to only 22 million All per year. The remaining sum may be used for the new cases of diabetes which are diagnosed every year.
