“Present Time Event”, a creation of the Albanian artist, Leonard Qylafi, will represent Albania in Venice Biennial 2017. This project, realized under the special care of Vanessa Joan Mulle, was chosen by a special jury in the Ministry of Culture following an open-invitation to submit project-proposals from October 5 until December 1, 2016. 

An international jury, composed by Marco Scotini, Julia Fabenyi, Flaka Haliti, Eleni Laperi and Gëzim Qendro voted in favor of this project judging that the last meets the criteria set by the Ministry of Culture. 

Qylafi’s work of art was praised for bringing back the past story with a contemporaneous style. The Albanian artist will present in Venice Biennial a number of pictures and personal documents which create a contrast between individual stories and collective memory, through a political and poetic approach.
