Saimir Pirgu, one of the most internationally known Albanian tenors, was given the highest award that may receive an opera artist during his career. He is officially the first Albanian in the world that manages to be nominated for the ‘Grammy’ award. ‘Krol Roger’ (King Roger) opera, directed by Kasper Holten, music conducted by Antonio Pappano, produced by Jonathan Allen and the brilliant performance of Saimir Pirgu, Georgia Jarman and Mariusz Kwiencien, played in the prestigious stage of Royal Opera House in London, has been nominated in the category “Best Opera Recording”.

‘Krol Roger’ has been included in five best operas of this category, while the winner will be defined by a jury of international opera critics.

Pirgu’s influence in this nomination becomes even higher thanks to his role and the relatively high level of difficulty. The 58th edition of the “Grammy” awards ceremony will be televised live by the US TV station CBC on February 12.
