
Albania’s 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Vatican was commemorated on Friday through ‘Quarter-Century of Relations between Albania and Vatican’ conference that took place on Friday in Tirana.
This conference aims to evidence the bilateral relations between the Republic of Albania and the Holy See during these 25 years following the fall of communist-era.
"The 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with the Vatican State, which coincides with the beginning of pluralism and democracy building, is indicative of the new diplomatic relations between the Vatican State and Albania But the spiritual ties between us date back centuries before while Catholicism today is an important part of our national culture,” declared Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati in his greeting speech.
He emphasized that Albania recognizes and welcomes the philosophy on which the Vatican is based for a new mentality in international relations that leads to the religious freedom, culture and traditions of diverse as universal values that promote understanding and coexistence.
