Over 120 producers from all Albanian territories attended the traditional fair “Buy Albanian” which opened on Sunday in Pristina’s “Zahir Pajaziti” square.

The fair is organized by Commune of Pristina in conjunction with the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Albania.

Director of Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development in Pristina commune, Genc Bashota, at the opening of the fair, said that this type of fair, which is held for the third time, has drawn plenty of interest from producers.

“This year’s edition showcases products from over 120 producers from Kosovo, Albania and other territories inhabited by Albanians, which means that Albanian producers and consumers have become aware of products swap. The more we consume our products, the stronger our nation will become,” Bashota said.

For her part, Albanian Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship, Milva Ekonomi, stated that the fair is a landmark event for entrepreneurship in Kosovo and Albania.

“We are working together in order for Kosovo and Albanian products to go through the landmark registration process, because the consumer needs to feel protected and guaranteed once they consumer a product,” Ekonomi said.

Albanian minister also expressed satisfaction with the fact that during one year there has been no procedural barrier to Kosovo-Albania trade and vice versa.

“Pristina will remain the host country of “Blej Shqip” fair, because so far it has made a success of it,” Ekonomi said.

Meantime, the Albanian Minister also had a meeting with her Kosovo counterpart Hykmete Bajrami. During their meeting, they agreed that there were no barriers in the trade exchanges between the two countries.

According to the two ministers of economy, the past issues were resolved thanks to the enhancement of the cooperation but also as a result of several economic agreements signed between Albania and Kosovo.

Despite the excellent cooperation marked so far, the two ministers called for more commitment to further expanding and deepening such cooperation as in their view there is still room for improvement in this regard.

They also pledged that the respective authorities will do the outmost so that the businesses from both countries encounter no obstacles in the trade exchanges.
