After 25 years of debate on the subject, former socialist MP, Ben Blushi declared on Thursday that SP-DP will not open Communist-era secret service files.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Session, Blushi said that no one from the biggest political parties wants these files to be open.
"You don't want these files to be open. This country has a very bad report of 100 years of public documents," said Blushi. He gives his personal experience declaring that he asked information about a file, and despite the fact that he is a MP, no one answered to him.
The law provides lengthy procedures about how an interested party can review the files, without getting a copy of them.
The law also provides more space for information about missing people. It is estimated that several thousand Albanians remain missing after having disappeared during Communist times, probably because they were executed without trial and buried in unmarked graves.
