A powerful explosion in Ballsh oil plant late on Thursday killed a 40-years worker and injured 6 others. The blast occurred around 22:45 p.m., in Section 3, also known as Hydro-Cleaning section. The victim, Shkelqim Muça, 40, was one of 11 workers operating in this section when the explosion was verified.
Preliminary verification shows that a pump valve blocking may have been the origin of this tragic explosion. According to the oil plant workers this problem had been verified even a few days ago.
Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri and Health Minister, Ilir Beqja immediately reached the site along the prosecutor Ndriçim Sina that will shed light on this tragedy.
“State Technical Inspectorate and State Police are conducting a minute inquiry that will shed light on this tragic explosion motives. From what I have personally seen and the information that was given to me the explosion occurred due to a faulty hydrogen tank,” said Gjiknuri.
