INSTAT: Only 17% of Albanians Own a Car

Most of the Albanians do not own the car. According to the latest figures disclosed by the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) only 17% of Albanian citizens own a car. INSTAT data show that Durresi e Vlora district lead the list with the highest number of cars. 23.4% of Durresi citizen own a car, followed by 23.3% of Vlora citizens, which own at least one car.

Both coastal cities benefit from additional incomes thanks to remittances, thus they find it easier to purchase a car or enjoy the donation of a vehicle by their relatives living abroad.

Gjirokastra ranks at the third place in this list, also thanks to the remittances. Meanwhile the capital, Tirana, ranks behind with only 18.5% own at least one car. The last place is hold by Dibra with only 12% of the inhabitants possessing a car.
