
The Albanian Ombudsman, Igli Totozani declared that this institution is fervently working for an exact calculation of the minimum living definition.
Speaking on the on the Fight against Poverty Day he stressed that the minimum living definition guarantees better living conditions for the poor.
According to official data of the poverty indicators around 14.3% of the Albanian families live in absolute poverty, with a monthly consume of less than Lek 4891. On the other side 2.2% of the Albanian families live in extreme poverty. This figure is defined by the number of persons which face difficulties in fulfilling the alimentary necessities.
Currently, around 7.3% of the Albanian families benefit from the social welfare. But this figure does not correspond to the reality, due to the fact that families in need number is much higher.
