ART, Pollo: Law’s Amendment’ Attempts by Premier Edi Rama

Democratic Party accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of attempt to gain control over the Albanian Radio Television (ART). DP lawmaker Genc Pollo, speaking in the quality of Chairman of the Media Parliamentary Committee, declared on Wednesday that Prime Minister Edi Rama is attempting to amend the ART law by cancelling in Parliament the formula asked by him 5 years ago.

“Prime Minister Rama is not fully satisfied by the gained control over private media through bribery, purchase, black-mail, and pressure exercised by AMA. Rama will attempt to amend the ART law during next parliamentary session, overthrowing a formula defined by him 5 years ago. While in opposition Rama used the ART general director by a qualified majority in the ART council as a condition for opposition’s consensus on law’s approval,” said Pollo.
