The Parliament has violated Albanian Constitution with the decision of not sending the case of the Socialist MP, Koco Kokedhima, to the Constitutional Court. DP pretends that Kokedhima has a conflict of interest and should not have the right to renew the mandate of MP to any further extent, because he has benefited from public funds and the Constitution does not allow this.
Constitutional Court announced Parliament’s decision as anti - Constitutional, to take the opinion of this court on the case.
According to the said decision, Constitutional Court said that this is the only institution that has the competences to take a decision on the mandate of a MP. Afterwards, the legal representative of DP, Ivi Kaso said that this case should be treated in this institution from now on. It is the right of the Constitutional Court to take a decision and extend Parliament’s mandate of Kokedhima.
