Fleckenstein: No Integration in EU with Corrupted Judicial System

The 11th Conference of Parliamentary Committees of European Integration Affairs of the Countries participating in the Stabilization – Association Process of Southeast Europe were gathered in Tirana on Friday morning, in the premises of the Assembly Presidency.

Attending the conference were the Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta, Head of Committee for European Integration, Majlinda Bregu, Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Bushati and Knut Fleckenstein, EP Rapporteur on Albania. The Albanian Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta said that the Balkans Region has experienced an exceptional transformation, nevertheless this progress should not be taken for granted. “We have entered in a more complex era where each country stabilizes the contractual relationship with EU related to the reforms.

We are determined to accelerate the implementation rhythm of the reforms and EU is a great support to this process. In the meantime we support the inclusion of Kosovo in all the regional initiatives undertaken and we hope that all EU countries will be supportive and comprehensive”, ended Meta.

Meanwhile, Fleckenstein stressed that there are many challenges both for the EU countries and for candidate countries and the integration process requires continuous effort. Albanian Government is working towards the completion of the priorities.

The Judicial reform will help the future of this country. There will be no integration in EU with a corrupted Judicial System. European Parliament does not feel the fatigue of the EU Enlargement. The dialogue for regional cooperation is intensified and in the Berlin Process should be included even the parliaments,” said Fleckenstein.
