OSBE/ODIHR’s Final Report of Local Elections Publicized

OSBE/ODIHR made public on Tuesday the final report of local elections held on June 21 in Albania. According to this report, our country made significant progress compared to the last elections. Albania resulted to have the same problems as the procedural irregularities and family voting.

"In general, freedom of expression and the vote was respected, although the politicization of the institutions undermined the efficient administration of the electoral process. In general Election Day's assessments were positive, however there were identified cases of group voting and other procedural irregularities," underlined the report. According to the report, the main political parties had more institutional power in local elections on behalf of their interests by compromising the effective management of the process.
